Curriculum

At Kineton, our Believe, Grow, Achieve vision define our approach to the curriculum line with our Christian values and school motto “Living life in all its fullness”.

Our curriculum is planned in order to support depth and retention of learning based around the Cornerstones Curriculum.  Children are taught skills through progressive, well structured topics that help children to see purpose and connections between their learning both within and between year groups.

Our curriculum is rooted in memorable, enjoyable learning experiences that enable children
to ask questions, solve problems and share their learning.

The Cornerstones Curriculum is a creative and thematic approach to learning that is mapped to the 2014 primary national curriculum to ensure comprehensive coverage of national expectations. It is based on a child-centred pedagogy called The Four Cornerstones and is delivered through Knowledge Rich Projects (KRPs), which provide a rich menu of exciting and motivating learning activities that make creative links between all aspects of children’s learning. Children progress through four stages of learning in each topic and companion project – Engage, Develop, Innovate and Express.

We believe children learn better when they are encouraged to use their imagination and apply their learning to engaging contexts. Our curriculum provides many learning challenges throughout the academic year that require children to solve problems, apply themselves creatively and express their knowledge and understanding effectively.

Our Cornerstones curriculum provides a rigorous skills and knowledge framework that outlines the end of year expectations in all subjects. These skills and knowledge are tied to activities and are age-related so that staff can track children’s progress and identify their individual learning needs.

Knowledge organisers for each year group are sent out at the start of each topic.  You can access curriculum newsletters and the long term planning for each year group on the individual class pages in the Classrooms tab.

These documents detail content for every subject.
