Music Intent
At KPS, we grow a love of music and develop as musicians by listening, creating, playing and performing.
Our music curriculum is enhanced by a vast array of musical opportunities, spanning many genres. Children are exposed to expert musicians through regular performances, including a recent string quartet performance. Extra-curricular and peripatetic lessons include drums, keyboard and iRock (the opportunity to practise and perform as a band).
We are delighted to be part of Longborough Opera's Singing School Programme. Through this, a visiting choir master works with individual classes, the whole school and our choir to teach singing, promoting singing as a feel-good, collaborative and inspirational activity. The skills developed are shared through performances to peers, parents through school productions and wider community events, including St Peter's Church Meet and Greet lunches, Kineton Victorian Evening and spreading joy at Care Homes in the village.
The Playground Opera
Year 6 had the incredible opportunity to be part of The Playground Opera. They took part in a collaborative performance that abridged classic operas, involved the pupils in rewriting the story, meeting the characters, and singing and dancing along to the music. The result was an absorbing and highly engaging performance. The whole school was thoroughly enraptured by their first experience of opera.
